We are mourning over the great lost of a very talented lady, Prof. Katherine Johnson, who has passed away this morning at 101 years old.
Being one of the first African-American lady enrolled in West Virginia State College, Prof. Johnson graduated in 1937, and was hired by the NASA’s predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in 1953, where she worked on trajectories for flight missions. The most well-known project she has participated was her involvement in the calculations of trajectories for Apollo 11.
